In March 2020, I started a photo series as part of the first lockdown in The Netherlands. There are moments when I stopped this series, so I’m not close to 365 photos yet. Today is an important day for this series because one year ago the first confirmed COVID-19 case was a fact. So, in a way, this news is related to the photo series I make. It’s all about February 27, 2021.
Via Facebook and Instagram I asked whether the followers could see which symbols or hidden messages can be found in the photos I took for the series “Living in Quarantine,” “Working from Home” and the photos I take with the title “ Lockdown 2.0. ” It was too hard, I guess… Don’t worry. I am happy to help you to parse or analyse photos.
The past years weren’t easy. After a forced transfer to a school for children with special educational needs, it was sometimes hard. This transfer came with bullying and violence towards our oldest child. In the last year of primary school, parents are supposed to pick a school for their children. Going to the secondary school of choice isn’t something that is not self-evident when your child attends a school for children with educational needs.
We woke up in a winter wonderland. Just like many people in The Netherlands. It became a day when suddenly everything was different, it seemed. This winter wonderland made sure that our thoughts about COVID-19 or corona were moved to the background.
Triggered by an article in the Dutch newspaper Het Parool I thought about The Day the Music Died. This happened long before I was born. People are still talking about the tragic accident of 3 February 1959. Why is that?
Almost a year ago the global crisis as we got to know as the corona crisis or the COVID-19 crisis started. There is no reason for a celebration because many countries are still fighting this virus. Severe measures were taken to stop this virus. These measures can bring out the worst in people and countries. It seems that only the strongest ones will survive.
It’s the third week of the lockdown in The Netherlands and homeschooling, I think. It’s sometimes hard. Especially when you are confronted with meltdowns and other challenges. More about a meltdown about a red pencil and other homeschooling moments.
It seems that is was not so long ago that I announced the last photo in the series Working from home. Together with the series Life in Quarantine, it showed what we did during the first lockdown (light). The situation has changed and the new lockdown of December 2020 is more strict. So it was a good time to pick things up where we stopped. Yes, we started again!
